Mijas embraces Pet-Friendly Policies. Town Hall is championing its commitment to animal welfare with a new campaign. Following the enactment of the Law for the Protection of Animal Rights and Welfare, dogs are now welcomed in municipal buildings. This initiative underscores Mijas’ status as an animal-friendly municipality.
Marco Cortés, the Animal Welfare Councillor, highlighted the significance of the campaign, especially considering the 27,000 registered dogs in town. “We aim to foster respect and recognition of animals as cherished members of our families,” Cortés stated, according to Mijas International.
This comes into effect from September.
More Pet Friendly, in the bus
Furthermore, in line with the new regulations, small pets weighing up to 10 kilograms can now travel on select bus lines, including M-119, M-156, M-222, and M-223.
Mijas boasts three dog parks, including one of Europe’s largest in Calahonda. Plans has been announced for further expansion and enhancement of these facilities in the near future.
The Animal Welfare Department is running a campaign to
